Police are responding to serious crash at Lonsdale

Police are investigating a crash involving a car and motorbike in the southern suburbs this afternoon.

About 1.10pm on Monday 2 January, police and emergency services were called to the intersection of O'Sullivan Beach Road and Brodie Road at Lonsdale after reports of a collision involving a Mazda 3 sedan and a yellow Triumph motorbike.

The rider of the motorbike, a 20-year-old woman from Salisbury, was taken to Flinders Medical Centre where she is being treated for serious injuries.

The driver of the Mazda, a 40-year-old man from Morphett Vale, was uninjured. He was taken to Flinders Medical Centre where he had a sample of his blood taken for analysis. The man will likely be charged with causing harm by use of a vehicle.

Prior to the collision both vehicles travelled south on the Southern Expressway before exiting at Sherriffs Road, Lonsdale, and then headed south onto Brodie Road. Anyone who witnessed the crash or has dash-cam footage is asked to contact Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000.
