Police are responding to serious crash, Bass Highway Wynyard

Approximately 3.15pm on Friday 19 February 2021, Emergency Services were called to a report of a truck colliding with two vehicles on the Bass Highway Wynyard at the Deep Creek Rd intersection.

A silver Mitsubishi Four Wheel Drive and a white Subaru Wagon travelling East have collided causing the Subaru to cross the road and impact with an unladen Kenworth Prime Mover travelling West.

Two of the three occupants of the Subaru have sustained serious injuries, whilst a third occupant of that vehicle has sustained minor injuries. All three occupants of Mitsubishi have sustained minor injuries. All occupants were transported to the North West Regional Hospital.

At this time inattention is being looked at as a possible contributor to the crash, all drivers will undergo mandatory alcohol and drug testing.

Tasmania Police and National Heavy Vehicle Regulator will investigate the crash.

The Bass Highway and Deep Creek Road will be closed for several hours to allow investigation into the crash. Police would like to thank people for their patience and understanding with traffic diversions in place.
