Police arrest man after Morwell evade

Police have arrested a man after an evade in Morwell last night.

Officers from Morwell police station initially attempted to intercept a Ford Falcon on Princes Drive about 9.10pm.

The vehicle allegedly failed to pull over and accelerated away.

A short time later, Air Wing allegedly spotted the vehicle at speeds of up to 200km/hr on the Princes Highway in Traralgon, before guiding police on the ground to an address in Morwell.

The driver allegedly rammed a police vehicle before he was arrested.

Thankfully, no one was injured.

The 26-year-old Morwell man has since been charged with reckless conduct endangering life, drive at a speed dangerous, driving whilst suspended and failing to stop on police request.

He has been bailed to appear at the Latrobe Magistrates' Court on 21 September.

This arrest comes as police launch Operation Compass targeting poor driver behaviour over the upcoming two long weekends.

Operation Compass commenced at midnight this morning and will conclude at 23:59pm on Monday 25 April 2022.
