Police arrest man after sexual assaults in Melbourne

Melbourne Sexual Offences and Child Abuse Investigation Team (SOCIT) detectives have charged a man following sexual assaults in Melbourne’s CBD last Thursday.

Police allege the man approached a 16-year-old girl on Wills Street and grabbed her on the buttocks and genital region over her clothes about 5.30pm on 15 October.

Later that night, two women were allegedly grabbed on the buttocks at a shopping centre on Latrobe Street about 9pm.

Detectives arrested a 40-year-old man at a Melbourne CBD address about 2.30pm yesterday afternoon.

The man was interviewed and charged with four counts of sexual assault and stalking.

He was held overnight to appear before Melbourne Magistrates’ Court today.
