Police arrest man for firearms offences in Hoppers Crossing

Police have arrested a man following a firearms incident in Hoppers Crossing this evening.

Officers were called to a shopping complex on Warringa Crescent about 6.15pm on Friday 1 July after reports of a man seen with a firearm and acting erratically.

Police quickly arrived and located a man in the car park.

He was taken into custody and officers located a gel blaster handgun nearby.

No one was injured in the incident and a 32-year-old man is currently assisting police with their enquires.

Investigators have spoken to a number of witnesses but believe there were other people in the area who left before police arrival.
