Police arrest teen after investigation into aggravated break and enter offences- Newington

A teenager will face court today following an investigation into a number of alleged break and enters at Newington where a knife was produced.

In the early hours of Thursday 17 September 2020, police received reports of five separate break and enters in the Newington area – including Perkins Avenue, Devitt Avenue and Baker Avenue – involving two offenders armed with a knife.

Officers attached to the Auburn Police Area Command commenced an investigation and at 3.45pm yesterday (Thursday 17 September 2020), arrested a 16-year-old male.

He was taken to Auburn Police Station and charged with aggravated break and enter to commit serious indictable offence-armed, aggravated break and enter to commit serious indictable offence, and aggravated break and enter dwelling in company steal.

He was refused bail and will appear in a children's court today (Friday 18 September 2020).

Investigations are ongoing to identify the second offender.
