Police arrest teens after Yarraville agg burg

Hobsons Bay Crime Investigation Unit detectives have arrested two teens after they were caught allegedly trying to steal a Mercedes in Yarraville early this morning.

A couple woke to the sound of their dog barking in their Cranbrook Street address about 1.25am.

They logged into their security camera feed and watched as two males allegedly entered their garage and tried to get into their car.

After being unable to get into the locked car or door leading into the house, they left the address on foot.

The pair called Triple Zero (000) and police quickly attended the scene.

Patrols were conducted of the surrounding area when two youths were seen running down nearby Fogarty Avenue.

After a short foot chase, a 17-year-old from Thomastown and 15-year-old from Mernda were both arrested.

They are expected to be charged with aggravated burglary.

Investigations into reports of several other attempted break-ins in the area remain under investigation.
