Police arrest teens in stolen car in Melbourne's CBD

Police have arrested two teenagers allegedly driving a stolen car in Melbourne's CBD this evening.

The white Nissan Juke SUV was spotted driving erratically in the Essendon area by the Air Wing shortly after 5pm.

The police helicopter monitored the vehicle for about three hours and guided a coordinated police ground response as it travelled across much of the metropolitan Melbourne area.

On a number of occasions, the vehicle allegedly drove into oncoming traffic on several freeways at high speeds.

The vehicle then travelled into Melbourne's CBD where it collided with several cars outside Southern Cross Railway Station about 8pm.

Police quickly arrested the driver however the passenger fled into the train station.

PSOs conducted a search of the station and located the youth hiding in a train a short time later.

The 17-year-old males, both from Reservoir, are in custody and assisting detectives with their enquiries.

There were no injuries reported during the collisions.

More than 60 drivers reported seeing the speeding vehicle to police and we urge those people to come forward.
