Police arrest two after rampage through south and south-west, South Australia

Two men have been arrested after stealing cars and breaking into homes in the western and south-western suburbs this morning.

About 7.20am on Wednesday 18 August, police were called to a golf course on Tapleys Hill Road at West Beach after reports of a white Subaru Impreza being driven erratically on the course.

A staff member was allegedly threatened with a knife when he tried to block the vehicle's path with a ride-on lawnmower.

The stolen Subaru drove through a fence and headed south on Military Road.

Police received several calls from the public reporting the car being driven dangerously in Glenelg.

The vehicle was found abandoned a short time later by police at Marino.

It will be alleged the occupants of the Impreza then broke into two nearby houses, in Sheidow Place and Marine Parade and stole a Holden Colorado from the Marino area.

Police cordoned off the area and, with the assistance of the police helicopter (PolAir), local police and State Tactical Response Group, tracked down and arrested the suspects about 8.30am.

A 31-year-old man from Elizabeth South and a 40-year-old man from Taperoo were charged with numerous offences including aggravated assault, four counts of serious criminal trespass and traffic offences.

Both men have been refused police bail to appear in the Christies Beach Magistrates Court tomorrow (Thursday 19 August).

Police are appealing for any witnesses who saw or have dashcam of the white Subaru Impreza that police will allege was driven dangerously between West Beach and Marino this morning to contact Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000 or online at www.crimestopperssa.com.au
