Police arrest two men at Bolivar, South Australia

Two men were arrested after trying to run from a stolen ute into wetlands at Bolivar overnight.

Just after 3am on Thursday 27 January, police tried to pull over a ute on First Avenue, Woodville Gardens, however the driver failed to stop.

The vehicle travelled north onto the North-South Motorway. The ute appears to have overheated and stopped near the Bolivar Road off-ramp at Bolivar. The two men inside the ute ran off into the wetlands. One man was immediately apprehended.

Police deployed Police Dog Arnie, who quickly located the second suspect hiding under bushes.

A 30-year-old Lameroo man and a 22-year-old Croydon Park man were arrested and charged with illegal use.

The Lameroo man was charged with driving while disqualified and fail to stop. The Croydon Park man was charged with possess prohibited weapon after a number of katanas, or Japanese swords, were found in the passenger side of the ute.

Neither man applied for bail and they will appear in the Port Adelaide Magistrates Court today.

The Mazda ute was reported stolen from a Mawson Lakes address on 24 January. It was towed for forensic examination.
