Police Auxiliary Officer Charged

Child Abuse Squad detectives have charged a 19-year-old male Police Auxiliary Officer in relation to several alleged offences against a female juvenile known to him outside of his work capacity.

It is alleged the offences occurred between December 2020 and March 2021, when the accused was 18-19 years old. The accused commenced training to be a Police Auxiliary Officer in January 2021, commencing operational duty this week.
The incidents were reported to Police on Friday 19 March 2021 and arrangements were made to interview the complainant yesterday, Tuesday 23 March 2021. The 19-year-old man was arrested this morning, Wednesday 24 March 2021.
He was formally stood down from duty and has been charged with:
- 19 x Sexually penetrated a child of or over 13 and under 16;
- 18 x Indecently deals with a child over 13 under 16;
- 1 x Impeded another person's normal breathing or blood circulation by applying pressure to neck; and
- 1 x Persistent sexual conduct with child under 16.
He was refused bail and is due to appear in the Perth Magistrates Court today, Wednesday 24 March 2021.
