Police Charge 865 People During Operation Amarok XI

Police have charged 865 people with 2,028 offences during a four-day statewide operation targeting domestic and family violence.

Operation Amarok XI ran from Wednesday 13 August to Saturday 16 August 2025.

Operation Amarok is an intelligence-led, offender-focussed operation that aims to ensure the safety and wellbeing of domestic and family violence victims and the broader NSW community.

The Domestic and Family Violence Command-led operation also involved officers from each regions' Domestic Violence High Risk Offenders Team (DVHROT), along with specialist officers from Raptor Squad, Youth Command, State Crime Command's Child Protection Register, Traffic and Highway Patrol Command, and the Police Transport Command.

Across the four days, 865 people were arrested and charged, with 269 arrest warrants executed.

Police laid 2,028 charges and conducted 1,590 bail compliance checks and 12,468 apprehended domestic violence order (ADVO) compliance checks with a total of 669 breaches identified.

Officers conducted 144 firearms prohibition order (FPO) searches, with 87 firearms and 31 weapons seized.

Domestic and Family Violence Corporate Sponsor, Acting Deputy Commissioner Peter McKenna, said police had a relentless focus to find and arrest the most dangerous domestic violence offenders through Operation Amarok.

"This is the 11th Operation Amarok, and we remain committed to going after the worst of the worst domestic and family violence offenders who think they can hide," A/Deputy Commissioner McKenna said.

"Police are called to an incident of domestic violence every three minutes in NSW, and we need to ask ourselves as a society, why do we keep putting up with this? There should be absolutely no tolerance for this type of offending.

"We encourage anyone to come forward to police and report their concerns, we will investigate."

For all 11 Amarok operations, statewide police arrested 6,638 offenders and laid 13,475 charges. Statewide officers conducted 1,431 FPO searches and seized 658 firearms, completed 91,299 ADVO compliance checks, and 14,699 DV bail compliance checks.

For all 11 Amarok operations, statewide police seized 476 weapons and detected 2,692 ADVO breaches.

SYDNEY REGION

Incident 1: Officers attached to Leichhardt Police Area Command will allege a 28-year-old man contacted a woman known to him 668 times between May and August 2025 from a correctional facility. Police further allege the calls were made in contravention of an enforceable AVO. He was charged with attempt to breach prohibition/restriction in domestic AVO; knowingly contravene prohibition/etc in AVO (domestic) (10 counts) and knowingly contravene third time in 28 days AVO (domestic) (four counts). He will appear at Downing Centre Local Court on Thursday 18 September 2025.

Incident 2: On Tuesday 12 August 2025, officers attached to Blacktown Police Area Command commenced an investigation after receiving a report that a man had allegedly distributed an intimate image of a woman known to him, threatened to distribute it, damaged her belongings, threatened her over text message, and intimidated her over two months. The Blacktown Domestic Violence Team and North West Metropolitan Domestic Violence High Risk Offender Team arrested a 38-year-old man at a home in Rooty Hill. He was charged with intentionally distribute intimate image without consent (DV), threaten to distribute intimate image without consent (DV), destroy damage property (two counts), use carriage service to menace/harass/offend and stalk/intimidate intend dear physical etc harm (domestic). He was refused bail to appear at Blacktown Local Court on Thursday 14 August 2025, where he was formally refused bail to appear at Mount Druitt Local Court on Monday 25 August 2025.

Incident 3: On Wednesday 13 August 2025, officers from Campbelltown City Police Area Command began an investigation after receiving a report from a woman that she had been physically assaulted, punched and choked by a 19-year-old man at a home in Wattle Grove between June and August 2025. The man also allegedly took images and videos of her during sexual acts without her consent and threatened to release the images via social media. About 4.45pm that day, the man attended Campbelltown Police Station where he was arrested. He was charged with common assault (three counts), stalk/intimidate intend dear physical etc harm (domestic) (two counts), intentionally record intimate image without consent (domestic), threaten to distribute intimate image without consent (DV) (two counts), intentionally distribute intimate image without consent (DV), intentionally choke person without consent (DV). He was refused bail to appear at Campbelltown Local Court on Thursday 14 August 2025, where he was granted conditional bail to appear at Liverpool Local Court on Thursday 28 August 2025.

Incident 4: About 3.30pm on Thursday 14 August 2025, officers attached to Liverpool City Police Area Command conducted a vehicle stop on Lancaster Avenue, Cecil Hills, and arrested a 28-year-old woman. Checks on her licence revealed she was a disqualified driver. Further checks showed the woman allegedly mailed a package containing prohibited drugs from a post office at Corrimal prior to driving to the Cecil Hills area. Wollongong Police District officers executed a search warrant at the post office where a package allegedly containing approximately three grams of heroin was found. Police executed a search warrant at the woman's home where they allegedly location 544 grams of methylamphetamine, 604 grams of MDMA, $46,000 in cash and prohibited weapons. The woman was taken to Liverpool Police Station and charged with 10 offences including supply large commercial quantity of prohibited drugs, deal with property proceeds of crime and driving charges. The woman was refused bail to appear at Liverpool Local Court on Friday 15 August 2025, where she was formally refused bail to appear at Wollongong Local Court on Friday 8 October 2025. Incident 5: On 1 August 2024, officers from Surry Hills Police Area Command were called Fitzroy Street, Surry Hills, following reports a 39-year-old man allegedly punched and struck a woman known to him with a trye iron, causing facial injuries. Police made significant attempts made to locate the man. About 8.30am on Friday 15 August 2025, officers from Central Metropolitan Domestic Violence High Risk Offender Team were notified the man may be at a home in Jannali. Police forced entry and the man was located in a bedroom before he was arrested. The man was taken to Sutherland Police Station and he was charged with armed with intent to commit an indictable offence, assault occasioning actual bodily harm (DV) and stalk/intimidate intend fear physical harm (domestic). He was refused bail to appear before Parramatta Local Court on Saturday 16 August 2025 where he was refused bail to appear at Sutherland Local Court on Monday 18 August 2025.

Incident 6: On Friday 14 August 2025, officers from St George Police Area Command conducted a search of a premises in Fontainebleau Street, Sans Souci. It will be alleged that located in the premises were items consistent with the supply of prohibited drugs and a 0.22WMR Single Action Folding Revolver switch gun, being a concealed carry pistol with a foldable handle. Investigations are ongoing and no arrests have been made at this stage. VISION INCLUDED

Incident 7: A 33-year-old man wanted on several outstanding warrants relating to a total of nine offences for serious domestic violence offences since 2021 was identified by officers from Campbelltown Police Area Command as having fled to Western Australia. With the assistance of Western Australia Police, the man was arrested. An extradition order was granted where the man was charged by NSW Police for the nine domestic violence-related offences, and has been refused bail to appear at Parramatta Bail Court on Sunday 17 August 2025. NORTHERN REGION

Incident 8: About 7am on Wednesday 13 August 2025, officers from Newcastle City Police District arrested a 33-year-old man at a home in Redtail Street, Chisholm, before he was taken to Maitland Police Station. He was charged with 13 offences including knowingly contravene third time in 28 days AVO (domestic), knowingly contravene prohibition/etc in AVO (domestic) (two counts), contravene prohibition/restriction in AVO (domestic) (six counts), destroy or damage property (two counts), and stalk/intimidate intend fear physical etc harm (domestic) (two counts). He was refused bail to appear in Bail Division – Court 2 on Wednesday 13 August 2025 where he was formally refused bail to appear at Newcastle Local Court on Tuesday 19 August 2025. Police will allege the man consistently contacted a woman known to him daily in contravention of an enforceable ADVO since June, including allegedly contacting the woman via text message and calls upwards of 30 times per day between Monday 21 July 2025 to Sunday 27 July 2025. Police will further allege the man attended the woman's home on multiple occasions where he yelled at her and damaged her property. The man was arrested on Thursday 7 August 2025 and was charged with contravene prohibition/restriction in AVO (domestic), assault occasioning actual bodily harm (DV), destroy or damage property and breach of bail. He was granted bail on Thursday 7 August 2025 and police will allege he contacted the woman several times, including allegedly contacting the woman via text message and calls upwards of 30 times per day between Thursday 8 August 2025 and Tuesday 12 August 2025.

Incident 9: On Saturday August 2025, a 25-year-old man was with a woman known to him in a hotel room where they began to argue. The man alleged damaged a door before he allegedly choked the woman while armed with a knife, before he cut her hand and left the motel. The next day, the man allegedly kicked and choked the woman, while armed with a knife before he stabbed the mattress she was on. The woman contacted police and the Hunter Valley Domestic Violence High Risk Offender Team began an investigation. Police allege he was wanted by police and actively avoided arrest. At 7am on Wednesday 13 August 2025, police arrested the nan a motel in Charlestown and he was taken to Belmont Police Station. He was charged with stalk/intimidate intend fear physical etc harm (domestic) (two counts), assault occasioning actual bodily harm (DV), common assault, armed with intent commit indictable offence (two counts), destroy or damage property, intentionally choke etc person without consent (DV) (two counts). He was refused to appear in court on Wednesday 13 August 2025 before he was formally refused bail to appear at Belmont Local Court on Monday 18 August 2025. VISION INCLUDED

Incident 10: On Saturday 19 July 2025, police allege a 30-year-old man attended the Wyongah home of a woman known to him where he was refused entry before he struck the woman with a broom. He left and returned to the home to allegedly smash a window with the broom. The woman contacted police and they began an investigation. He was arrested charged with common assault (DV), contravene prohibition/restriction in AVO (domestic), destroy or damage property (DV) and fail to appear in accordance with bail acknowledgment. He was given bail to appear before Wyong Local Court on 30 July 2025 however he allegedly failed to appear and a warrant was issued for his arrest. On Wednesday 13 August 2025, the Hunter Valley Domestic Violence High Risk Offender Team located and arrested the 30-year-old man in Gorokan before he was taken to Wyong Police Station and charged with an outstanding warrant. The man was refused bail to appear at Bail Division – Court 6 Local Court on Wednesday 13 August 2025 where he was granted conditional bail to appear at Wyong Local Court on Thursday 28 August 2025. Incident 11: About 3pm on Friday 15 August 2025, officers from Port-Stephens Hunter Police District arrested a 44-year-old man on Queen Street, Rutherford. The man was wanted for a number of serious domestic violence offences including choking a woman known to him. It will be alleged the woman lost consciousness during one of the assaults. He was refused bail to appear at Parramatta Local Court on Saturday 16 August 2025.

Incident 12: About 9.20pm on Saturday 16 August 2025 officers from Tuggerah Lakes Police District arrested a 46-year-old man at a home on West Kahala Avenue, Budgewoi. Police will allege the man had breached an ADVO and Supreme Court bail conditions by contacting a woman known to him. It will be further alleged that when police arrested the man, he made a number of threats to arresting officers. He was taken to Wyong Police Station and charged with contravene prohibition/restriction in AVO and intimidate police officer in execution of duty without actual bodily harm. The man was refused bail to appear at Parramatta Local Court on Sunday 17 August 2025.

SOUTHERN REGION

Incident 13: About 12am on Wednesday 13 August 2025, officers attended a motel on Morgan Street, Wagga Wagga, following reports of alleged threats to kill a 30-year-old woman and her children in Victoria. Officers attached to Riverina Police District responded and arrested a 31-year-old man. A crime scene was established and investigations commenced. Police seized a firearm, methamphetamine, drug paraphernalia and cash. The man was taken to Wagga Wagga Police Station and charged with use carriage service to threaten to kill, possess unregistered firearm prohibited firearm, possess ammunition without holding licence/permit/authority, not keep firearm safely-prohibited firearm, supply prohibited drug more than indictable and less than commercial quantity, knowingly deal with proceeds of crime and recklessly deal with proceeds of crime. He was refused bail and faced Bail Division Court 3 on Wednesday 13 August, where he was formally refused bail to reappear in Wagga Wagga Local Court on Wednesday 20 August 2025.

Incident 14: About 10.15am on Thursday 14 August 2025, officers attached to Wollongong Police District attended a home in Bulli to serve a Firearms Prohibition Order and Weapons Prohibition Order on a 16-year-old boy after they were notified the boy allegedly was in possession of a pistol he had been posing with on social media. At the home, police located the firearm, two magazines and a small amount of cannabis. He was taken to Wollongong Police Station where he was charged with possess unauthorised firearm, possess unregistered firearm – pistol, not keep firearm safely – pistol and possess prohibited drug. He was granted conditional bail to appear at a children's court on Tuesday 9 September 2025. VISION INCLUDED

Incident 15: About 12.40am on Wednesday 13 August 2024, officers from Wollongong Police District were called to a home on Woodrow Place, Figtree, following reports of an assault. Police will allege a 32-year-old man allegedly physically restrained another man before the 32-year-old man allegedly threatened to kill the man while armed with a knife. The man sustained injuries to his hand before he fled the home. Upon police arrival, the 32-year-old man allegedly held the knife and resisted arrest. He was arrested a short time later and taken to Wollongong Police Station. The man was charged with assault occasioning actual bodily harm (DV), stalk/intimidate intend fear physical harm, use offensive weapon to prevent lawful detention, hinder or resist police officer in the execution of duty. He was refused bail to appear at Bail Division – Court 3 on Thursday 14 August 2025 where he was formally refused bail to appear at Wollongong Local Court on Thursday 21 August 2025.

WESTERN REGION

Incident 16: About 1.30pm on Thursday 14 August 2025, officers attached to Orana Mid Western Police District attended a home on Herrmann Street, Coonamble, to conduct a firearm and weapons prohibition compliance search. Police forced entry and conducted a search where they located a .22 calibre Baikal rifle inside a bag in a cupboard. The firearm was seized and inquiries into the firearm continue. VISION INCLUDED

Incident 17: About 12.30pm on Friday 15 August 2025, officers from Oxley Police District attended a home on Queen Street, East Tamworth, to conduct a weapons prohibition compliance check. It will be alleged that police located an extendable baton and stolen power tools. A 30-year-old man in the home was arrested at the scene and taken to Tamworth Police Station. He was charged with use prohibited weapon contrary to prohibition order and goods in personal custody suspected being stolen and was refused bail to appear at Parramatta Local Court on Saturday 16 August 2025.
