Police charge man after affray in Mount Waverley

Eastern Region Crime Squad detectives have charged a man following an alleged affray and firearms incident in Mount Waverley last week.

Investigators have been told a group of males were involved in a physical altercation outside a property on Tarella Drive about 6am on Saturday 20 January.

During the altercation, no one was seriously injured however it is believed a man was allegedly struck by a vehicle and a firearm was produced. A search of a vehicle also uncovered a number of alleged weapons.

As part of the investigation detectives, with assistance from the Special Operations Group, arrested a 20-year-old man this morning.

The Cranbourne man has been charged with:

• prohibited person possess a firearm

• possess a firearm when firearm prohibition order applies, and

He was held over to appear before Melbourne Magistrates' Court on 27 January.
