Homicide Squad detectives have charged a 49-year-old Blackburn man with murder following the discovery of a deceased woman in Blackburn on Monday night.
Police attended a property on Whitehorse Road just after 7pm for a welfare check on a female occupant.
A 77-year-old woman was located deceased inside the home.
The 49-year-old is expected to appear at Melbourne Magistrates' Court later today.
