A man will face court today following a drug seizure in the state's Far West yesterday.
In August 2026, officers attached to Barrier Police District commenced an investigation into the supply of prohibited drugs in Broken Hill.
Following inquiries, about 1.30pm yesterday (Monday 10 August 2026), police stopped a sedan on Silverton Road, north of Broken Hill.
Officers spoke to the driver – a 40-year-old man – and searched the vehicle, seizing cash. The man was arrested and taken to Broken Hill Police Station.
Following further inquiries, about 3pm the same day, police executed a search warrant at a motel room on Barrier Highway, Broken Hill.
During a search of the room, officers seized cannabis with an estimated potential street value of $3800.
The man was charged with five offences,
- Possess prohibited drug (two counts)
- Recklessly deal with proceeds of crime less than or equal to $5000
- Supply prohibited plant greater than small and less than or equal to indictable quantity
- Never licensed person drive vehicle on road.
He was refused bail to face Bail Division Court 4 today (Tuesday 11 August 2026).
