Police Charge Man After Fatal Collision In Yarck

Major Collision Investigation Unit detectives have charged a man following a fatal collision in Yarck on Wednesday.

An allegedly stolen Ford Ranger collided with a motorcycle on Maroondah Highway on 8 May about 4pm.

The rider of the motorcycle, a 56-year-old Alexandra man, died at the scene.

The male driver allegedly dumped the Ford on a nearby street and fled on foot.

A 42-year-old Seymour man was arrested nearby.

The vehicle was allegedly stolen from a hotel on Railway Street in Euroa about 2.40pm on 8 May.

The Seymour man has been charged with dangerous driving causing death, fail to stop and render assistance, burglary and theft.

He will appear at Melbourne Magistrates' Court later today.
