Police charge man after Goorambat fatal

Detectives from the Major Collision Investigation Unit have charged a man after a fatal collision in Goorambat on Tuesday 14 December.

Emergency services were called to Goorambat-Thoona Road at the intersection with Bungeet and Hammond roads about 12.10pm after reports a utility had collided with two motorcycles.

Sadly, an 80-year-old male rider from Wangaratta died at the scene.

The second rider, a 70-year-old Wangaratta man, was airlifted to hospital with life-threatening injuries.

The driver of the white Toyota utility, a 35-year-old Tatong man, was not injured and stopped at the scene.

He has been charged with one count each of dangerous driving causing death and dangerous driving causing serious injury.

He appeared at the Wangaratta Magistrates' Court today where he was granted bail to reappear at the same court on the 7th of April 2022.
