Police charge man after pedestrian hit-run collision in Collingwood

Yarra Crime Investigation Unit detectives have charged a man after a pedestrian was hit by a car in Collingwood yesterday.

The incident occurred at a COVID-19 testing site on the corner of Easey Street and Hoddle Street about 9.25am.

It is alleged a man driving a stolen car was driving erratically before hitting a pedestrian who was monitoring the line at the site before driving away from the scene.

Police arrested the man in Leicester Street in Carlton a short time later.

The male pedestrian was taken to hospital where he remains with non-life-threatening injuries.

A 32-year-old man, of no fixed address, has been charged with theft of motor vehicle, reckless conduct endangering serious injury, intentionally cause injury, drive in manner dangerous, fail to render assistance after an accident, possess a drug of dependence and other drug related offences.

He has been remanded to appear at Melbourne Magistrates' Court on 15 December.
