Police charge man after Sale sexual assault

Detectives from the Sale Sexual Offences and Child Abuse Investigation Team have charged a man following an alleged sexual assault in Sale on Saturday morning.

A 23-year-old woman was allegedly sexually assaulted by a man at the Sale Train Station car park after she gave him a lift about 1am on 9 April.

She managed to escape to a nearby home to raise the alarm.

The alleged offender, a 35-year-old man of no fixed address, was swiftly arrested nearby.

He has since been charged with rape, attempted rape, false imprisonment, common law assault and three counts of theft.

He was remanded to face Sale Magistrates' Court today.
