Police charge man after stabbing - Dover Heights

A man has been charged over the alleged stabbing of a woman in Sydney's east today.

About 12.15pm (Monday 8 August 2022), emergency services were called to Weonga Road, Dover Heights, after reports a woman had been stabbed.

Officers attached to Eastern Suburbs Police Area Command attended and located a 45-year-old woman with a stab wound to her chest.

She was treated at the scene by NSW Ambulance paramedics before being taken to St Vincent's Hospital in a stable condition.

A 46-year-old man was arrested by police about 12.30pm on Campbell Parade, Bondi, and taken to Waverley Police Station.

The man was charged with Cause wounding/gbh to person w/i to murder.

Police will allege in court that the man attended the Weonga Road home, where the woman answered the front door and was stabbed.

He was refused bail to appear before Waverley Local Court today (Tuesday 9 August 2022).

The man and woman were known to each other.
