Police charge man over administering poison, Eagleby

Police have charged a 36-year-old man for allegedly releasing a poisonous cough mixture at an Eagleby shopping centre on Saturday June 19.

It will be alleged that around 1.15pm, a man attended the Fryar Road shopping centre via the northern entry and released a noxious aerosol substance in the vicinity of a café and medical centre.

The substance caused six people to experience adverse respiratory reactions, resulting in a 54 year-old-woman being transported to hospital.

Subsequent investigations resulted in a search warrant being executed on Wednesday June 23 at a residence nearby on Fryar Road, where a 36-year-old Eagleby man was arrested.

The man has now been charged with five counts of assault occasioning bodily harm and one count each of serious assault of a person over 60, administering poison with intent to harm, possessing dangerous drugs and possessing drug utensils.

He is scheduled to appear at the Beenleigh Magistrates Court on July 14.
