Police charge man over child approach at Nowra

A man has been charged over an alleged child approach in Nowra this week.

About 4.20pm on Monday (14 September 2020), an 11-year-old girl was riding her skateboard on a path between Riverview Road and the Shoalhaven River, when she was approached by a man.

The man allegedly spoke to the girl, before approaching her for a second time in a utility a short time later.

The incident was reported to officers from South Coast Police District who commenced an investigation.

Following inquiries and a public appeal, detectives attended a Nowra address about 3.15pm today (Friday 18 September 2020), and spoke with a man.

The 62-year-old was arrested and taken to Nowra Police Station where he was charged with stalk or intimidate intending to cause fear of physical or mental harm (personal violence offence).

He was granted strict conditional bail to appear at Nowra Local Court on Monday 12 October 2020.
