An 18-year-old Bridgewater man has been charged with reckless driving and other traffic offences, following a series of incidents around Hobart recently.
The man was arrested last night after police observed him allegedly hooning in a car in Montagu Bay.
With assistance from the public and subsequent investigation by Bellerive Police, the man was also charged over traffic offences reportedly committed on a motorcycle on the Tasman Bridge and Tasman Highway on Tuesday evening.
"Police will continue to target, investigate and hold motorists to account for dangerous driving," said Senior Constable Hayden Williams.
"We'd like to thank members of the public for their assistance in this matter, which helped us to get a quick resolution."
The man was charged with a number of offences, including:
- Reckless Driving
- Fail to maintain proper control of a motor vehicle
- Drive whilst not the holder of a licence
- Operate a vehicle in an exhibition of speed, acceleration, or sustained loss of traction
- Abusive language to a police officer.
He was also charged with motor vehicle stealing in relation to an incident earlier this year.
The car being driven by the man last night has been clamped for a period of three months.
He will appear in the Hobart Magistrates Court later this year.
