Police charge man over sexual assault and child prostitution

A man has been charged after allegedly sexually assaulting a teenage girl in Sydney's west and Upper North Shore.

Detectives from the Child Abuse and Sex Crimes Squad commenced an investigation following reports a 15-year-old girl was sexually assaulted by a man she met through a friend.

Following inquiries, detectives arrested a 49-year-old man at a home at Kellyville about 7.30am yesterday (Tuesday 25 June 2019).

The man was taken to Castle Hill Police Station and charged with two counts of have sexual intercourse with person between the ages of 14 and 16, and two counts of cause child between the ages of 14 and 18 to do act of child prostitution.

Police will allege in court that the man gave the girl drugs and money for sex on two occasions in October 2018 at Parramatta and November 2018 at Killara.

He was refused bail and appeared at Parramatta Local Court yesterday, where he was granted conditional bail to reappear at the same court on Thursday 22 August 2019.

The Child Abuse and Sex Crimes Squad is comprised of detectives who are specially trained to investigate matters against children and adults, including sexual assault, serious physical abuse, and extreme cases of neglect.
