Police charge man with Butler fire

Arson Squad Investigators have charged a 40-year-old man with Criminal Damage by Fire in relation to an incident in Butler last night, 7 April 2020.

About 10.25pm, Police and Department of Fire and Emergency Services (DFES) were called to a report of a fire at a home on Pendleton Crescent in Butler.

Neighbouring homes were evacuated as DFES extinguished the fire.

The fire caused extensive damage to the garage area and smoke damage to the home. Damage is estimated at $100,000.

A male occupant of the home was conveyed to Joondalup Health Campus with non-life-threatening injuries. Luckily other occupants of the home were uninjured.

The 40-year-old man from Butler is due to appear before the Joondalup Magistrates Court today, 8 April 2020.
