Proactive police work has seen a man charged with firearm offences after a domestic-related incident in Gravesend.
About 9.30am (Sunday 5 May 2019), police were called to a home on Derra Street, Gravesend, after reports of a domestic dispute.
It's alleged a 40-year-old man and a 36-year-old woman were threatened by a man with a firearm during a domestic-related dispute at the home, before he fled in a Toyota Hilux.
The man pursued in a Holden Commodore for a short distance, before ramming the Toyota.
The armed man drove away and allegedly fired a number of shots in an unknown direction.
A short time later, officers attached to New England Police District stopped the Toyota on the Gwydir Highway, Warialda, and arrested the 31-year-old man, and took him to Moree Police Station.
Following inquiries, police attended a Warialda home and searched a vehicle located outside the premises, seizing two rifles believed to be stolen.
The Warialda man was later charged with fire firearm in public place, possess unregistered firearm in public place, armed with intent to commit, not keep firearm safe, use unauthorised firearm, and disqualified driving.
He was refused bail to appear at Moree Local Court today (Monday 6 May 2019).
