Police charge man with recklessly discharging firearm in Burnie and Devonport

Police have charged an 18-year-old man with multiple offences including recklessly discharging a firearm in Burnie and Devonport this month.

Around 2pm yesterday police attended a residence in Ulverstone and arrested a man police will allege was responsible for:

  • recklessly discharging a firearm towards a house in Devonport on 26 December
  • recklessly discharging a firearm towards a house in Burnie on 17 December, and
  • an aggravated assault in Devonport on 5 July where a person was threatened with a firearm.

The 18-year-old man of no fixed address has been charged with multiple offences including recklessly discharging firearm, aggravated assault, evade police, motor vehicle stealing, and aggravated burglary. He was detailed to appear before the Devonport Court today.

A 30-year-old woman arrested at the same location yesterday has been charged with stolen property and drug related matters. She was bailed to appear before the Devonport Court at a later date.

Following a search of the residence, police located a number of illicit items including a stolen motor vehicle, stolen property, and drugs.
