Police are appealing for witnesses and dash-camera footage as part of the investigation into a two-vehicle crash on the Logan Motorway at Kingston last night, following which an officer was allegedly assaulted.
It will be alleged that just after 8pm, a white 2007 Toyota Hilux was driving dangerously at speed westbound on the Logan Motorway, when it collided with the rear of a black 2011 Holden Cruze.
The impact caused the Holden to crash into a right-side guard-rail, then ricochet across both lanes into the left-side barricade.
Both vehicles came to a halt, blocking both westbound lanes of the Logan Motorway.
The alleged driver of the Toyota – a 29-year-old Alexandra Hills man – was arrested after he allegedly assaulted an attending officer, before kicking and damaging the door to a police car.
His passenger – a 26-year-old Alexandra Hills man – along with the driver of the Holden – a 69-year-old Hope Island man – were transported to the Princess Alexandra Hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.
The officer was also treated at hospital before being released.
The 29-year-old man was charged with serious assault police and wilful damage of police property and is due to appear in the Beenleigh Magistrates Court today (Tuesday, September 20).
Police are calling on anyone who witnessed the incident, or has relevant dash-camera footage, to come forward.
Police would also like to speak with anyone who witnessed the white Toyota Hilux travelling westbound along the Logan Motorway prior to the crash.
Investigations into the crash are ongoing.
