Police charge man with sexually assaulting international visitor - rural property near Goulburn

A man will face court today charged over the sexual assault of an international tourist at a rural property south-west of Sydney.

Police will allege a 66-year-old man allegedly sexually touched an 18-year-old German tourist on several occasions between 28 September and 18 October 2019.

The alleged offences took place while the woman was staying with the man as part of a 'farm stay' program at a rural property in Peelwood, approximately 90km north-west of Goulburn.

The woman reported the incidents to Surry Hills Police Area Command earlier this week.

The matter was referred to The Hume Police District, who commenced an investigation into the circumstances surrounding the alleged offences.

About 1pm yesterday (Tuesday 22 October 2019), investigators executed a crime scene warrant at a rural property in Peelwood.

Officers seized computers, mobile phones and electronic storage devices.

A 66-year-old man was arrested at the scene and taken to Crookwell Police Station, where he was later charged with sexual assault, and four counts of sexual touching without consent.

He was refused bail and is due to face Goulburn Local Court today (Wednesday 23 October 2019).

Police inquiries are continuing.
