Police and Protective Services Officers part of Operation Pulse have intervened during an affray at a shopping centre in Preston this evening.
Officers were patrolling the food court of the shopping centre on Murray Road when they observed a group of females brawling about 6.20pm.
Four girls aged 12, 14, 16, 17 and an 18-year-old woman were arrested.
The 14-year-old sustained minor injuries and was transported to hospital.
The 12-year-old sustained minor injuries, was treated by Ambulance paramedics and was released pending further enquiries.
The 18-year-old Coburg North woman and 16-year-old and 17-year-old both from the Hume area were interviewed and are expected to be charged on summons.
Operation Pulse officers seized a knife which was allegedly produced during the incident.
Banyule Crime Investigation Unit detectives will investigate the circumstances surrounding the incident.
The investigation is ongoing.
