Police charge men with 2006 sexual assault

Cold Case Serious Crime Squad detectives have charged a two men as a result of their investigation into a 2006 sexual assault of a woman.

It is alleged between 12:30am and 2:00am on Saturday 10 June 2006, one of the men physically restrained the 21-year-old victim, whilst the other man sexually assaulted her at a residence in Esperance.

Cold Case Serious Crime Squad reinvestigated the offence and as a result of additional forensic testing in March 2020, detectives travelled to the Goldfields-Esperance District and on 19 May 2020, Cold Case Serious Crime Squad detectives arrested and charged the two men.

A 73-year-old man from Esperance and a 58-year-old man from Kendenup have each been charged with Aggravated Sexual Penetration without Consent.

They are due to appear before the Esperance Magistrates Court on 16 June 2020.
