Police charge teen after 2018 Orbost fatal collision

Major Collision Investigation Unit detectives have charged a second person following a fatal collision near Orbost last year.

A car was travelling west along the Princes Highway at Cabbage Tree Creek when it allegedly veered onto the opposite side of the road about 2.20pm on 14 September 2018.

The car struck a motorbike travelling east near Tower Road.

The rider, Victoria Police Detective Senior Sergeant Vic Kostiuk who was taking part in the Wall to Wall ride for Remembrance, died at the scene.

Detectives have charged a 17-year-old Tura Beach boy with culpable driving, culpable driving causing death, and six counts of reckless conduct endangering life.

He has been bailed to appear at a children's court at a later date.

A 21-year-old Botanic Ridge man was who was previously charged with culpable driving causing death will appear at the Melbourne County Court on 14 August.
