Police charge three people over Launceston inciden

A 51 year old Newnham man, a 37 year old Newnham woman and a 21 year old Rocherlea man have been charged and will face an out of hours Launceston court in regards to the aggravated armed robbery of a 75 yr old man in his house at Heather Street, South Launceston on Saturday night.

Police will allege that the individuals attended the residence at approximately 8.45pm on Saturday evening armed with a firearm in order to steal property from the residence.

Police will allege that a confrontation took place and that the 75 yr old male occupant was assaulted with the firearm before offenders left the residence with property belonging to the victim.

The victim remains in a stable condition at the Launceston General Hospital.

Police are appealing for witnesses who may have seen:

  • a gold Nissan pulsar in the area of Heather Street, Launceston sometime between 8.30pm and 9.15pm on Saturday night; and/or
  • a gold Nissan pulsar in the area of Morris Street, Prospect between 7pm and 10pm on Saturday night.

Police would also like to appeal to anyone who may have seen anyone acting suspiciously in either of these areas during the stated times, or who may have CCTV footage covering these areas to contact Launceston Police or Crime Stoppers.
