Police charge two after Broadmeadows pursuit overnight

Hume Crime Investigation Unit detectives have charged a man and woman following a pursuit in Broadmeadows last night.

Police first observed an allegedly stolen white Golf sedan drive through a red light on Glenroy Road in Glenroy about 10.10pm.

With assistance from the Air Wing, police followed the car through Broadmeadows.

It is alleged the occupants of the car threw drugs out of the window during the pursuit, which were seized by police.

Stop sticks were deployed in Broadmeadows and the vehicle came to a stop on Somerton Road in Greenvale.

The male driver and female passenger were arrested at the scene.

A 25-year-old Mickleham man has been charged with theft of motor vehicle, dangerous driving whilst being pursued by police and reckless conduct endanger serious injury.

He will appear at Broadmeadows Magistrates' Court later today.

An 18-year-old Doreen woman was charged with theft of motor vehicle and possession of drugs.

She's been bailed to appear at Broadmeadows Magistrates' Court in May 2023.
