Police charge two after CBD stabbing

Melbourne Crime Investigation Unit detectives have charged two men following a stabbing incident in Melbourne's CBD this morning.

The two men were arrested at their addresses about 1.30pm this afternoon.

Detectives executed warrants at the addresses of the two accused, locating clothing and a knife allegedly used in the commission of the stabbing.

The 52-year-old Southbank man and the 22-year-old Melbourne man were both charged with seven offences, including intentionally causing serious injury (gross violence), recklessly causing serious injury and affray.

Both men have been remanded in custody to appear at the Melbourne Magistrates Court on 18 December,

The arrests follow reports a man had been injured in Lonsdale Street, near Queen Street, about 12.30am on Friday, 17 December.

The 35-year-old Melbourne man remains in hospital with serious injuries.
