Detectives from the Logan Criminal Investigation Branch have charged two men following investigations into an alleged traffic incident and armed robbery at Slacks Creek on 26 December.
This result is part of Operation Yankee Forge - the Queensland Police Service's continued commitment to targeting serious property and violent offending.
Police will allege that around 12.55pm, two vehicles became involved in an incident while travelling northbound along Kingston Road at Slacks Creek.
It will be alleged the vehicles stopped at the intersection of Bunda Street and Park Road, where two men exited a white Toyota Hilux utility and became involved in a physical altercation with the occupants of a silver Mazda 323.
During the altercation, police allege one of the men from the Toyota Hilux struck a 22-year-old man from the Mazda in the face with a hammer, while the second offender assaulted a 44-year-old man.
Police will further allege one of the offenders attempted to steal the victims' vehicle before both offenders stole the victims' mobile phones and fled the scene in the Toyota Hilux.
The 22-year-old man was transported to hospital for assessment, while the 44-year-old man later received treatment for injuries sustained during the incident.
Following extensive investigations by Logan CIB detectives under Operation Yankee Forge, police were able to identify the alleged offenders.
A 32-year-old Rochedale South man has been charged with one count each of robbery armed/in company/wounded/used personal violence and unlawful use of a motor vehicle.
He is due to appear at Beenleigh Magistrates Court on 30 March.
A 30-year-old Holmview man has been charged with one count each of robbery armed/in company/wounded/used personal violence and unlawful use of a motor vehicle.
He is due to reappear at Beenleigh Magistrates Court on 6 May.
Investigations remain ongoing.
Operation Yankee Forge is a six-month district-led initiative targeting high-harm and high-volume property offences including unlawful use of motor vehicles, unlawful entry, and burglary.
The operation will enhance policing activities across Queensland to further reduce victim numbers and improve community safety.
Police regions, supported by specialist squads, will conduct coordinated disruption activities across the state. Police will target high harm offenders and work closely with partner agencies to hold them accountable. With a strong focus on crime prevention, police will be highly visible as they prevent, disrupt and investigate offences, focusing on unlawful use, robbery and unlawful entry.
The operation will be locally led and centrally coordinated, leveraging the knowledge and experience of officers who know their communities best.
