Police Charge Two Men After Carjacking - Wiley Park

Two men have been charged following an alleged carjacking in Sydney's south-west overnight.

About 2.30am today (Monday 15 June 2026), police were called to Lawford Street, Greenacre, following reports a group of men had been seen arguing.

Officers attached to Bankstown Police Area Command attended; however, on arrival three men were seen to run from a parked Volkswagen hatchback and leave the scene.

Within the Volkswagen, police found a 22-year-old French national who had been assaulted following a carjacking.

Officers were told the 22-year-old man had been driving a Sprinter van to collect e-bikes around the Wiley Park area, when he was threatened and assaulted by a group of unknown men.

The men then entered the van and forced the 22-year-old to drive to Cornelia Street, where they abandoned the van and forced the French national into the Volkswagen before driving to Lawford Street.

The man was treated at the scene by NSW Ambulance paramedics for facial injuries before being taken to hospital in a stable condition.

After treating the man, police pursued the group who ran from the scene arresting two men – one aged 32 on Roberts Road and a 26-year-old man hiding under a home on Lawford Street – before taking both to Bankstown Police Station.

Following a search of the Wiley Park area, officers attached to Campise Police Area Command located the van on Cornelia Street before seizing it for forensic examination.

A crime scene has been established at both locations and Bankstown and Campsie detectives have commenced an investigation into the incident.

Initial inquiries indicate the Volkswagen had been stolen from a home on Acacia Road, Greenacre, early in the night.

The men were both charged with be carried in conveyance taken without consent of owner and one man charged with an addition offence of enter inclosed land not prescribed premises without lawful excuse.

Investigations are continuing.
