Police charge two men after pursuit

Police have arrested two men after a pursuit involving an alleged stolen vehicle in Melbourne's north on 24 February.

Officers on patrol in Preston observed a stolen 2016 White Volkswagen Golf on Bell Street around 5.15am.

The Police Air Wing assisted members on the ground in following the vehicle across a number of suburbs, including Altona North, Deer Park, and Kings Park.

The driver of the vehicle allegedly rammed and collided with vehicles as it was being followed before stop sticks were successfully deployed on Kings Road around 6.20am.

The vehicle came to a halt and the driver allegedly attempted to flee on foot, however OC spray was deployed, with the driver and a passenger arrested at the scene.

The Volkswagen Golf was wanted as part of an ongoing investigation into a series of burglaries and vehicle thefts in the northern suburbs since 20 February.

Nobody was injured and the investigation is ongoing.

The driver, an 18-year-old North Melbourne man has been charged with theft of motor vehicle and serious driving offences.

He's been remanded to appear before Heidelberg Magistrates' Court at a later date.

The passenger, a 31-year-old Parkville man has been charged with theft of motor vehicle.

He's been remanded to appear before Melbourne Magistrates' Court on 2 March.
