Police charge two over armed robbery - Villawood

Two men will face court following an armed robbery in Sydney's south-west.

About 12.05am on Wednesday (January 2024), police were called to a business on Birmingham Avenue, Villawood, following reports of an attempted robbery.

On arrival, officers attached to Bankstown Police Area Command spoke with the 26-year-old male employee who told them two men allegedly entered the business before demanding cash and the man's mobile phone.

Following inquiries, police arrested two men – aged 24 and 19 – hiding in the bathroom. An air pistol, balaclavas, and gloves were also seized.

They were taken to Bankstown Police Station where they were charged with robbery in company, and robbery while armed with dangerous weapon.

The two men appeared at Bankstown Local Court on yesterday (Thursday 11 January 2024), where they were refused bail to reappear at Burwood Local Court on Wednesday (6 March 2024).
