Police charge two over home invasion - Tweed Heads South

Two people have been charged with property offences following an alleged home invasion on the state's Far North Coast last month.

About 2.15pm on Sunday 27 October 2019, police were called to a unit on Seymour Street, Tweed Heads South, following reports of an aggravated break and enter.

It's alleged a man – armed with a baseball bat – and a woman entered the home and stole a mobile phone, a laptop computer, a gaming device and personal items, before fleeing in a vehicle.

Officers from Tweed/Byron Police District commenced an investigation and conducted a search of the surrounding area.

Following extensive inquiries, police executed a search warrant at a unit on Hastings Street, Bogangar, shortly before 1pm yesterday (Monday 4 November 2019).

During the search, police allegedly located and seized a mobile phone, credit cards and documents.

A man and a woman – both aged 20 – were arrested at the home and taken to Tweed Heads Police Station.

The pair – from Woodbridge in Queensland – were both charged with aggravated break and enter and commit serious indictable offence.

The man was refused bail to appear at Tweed Heads Local Court today (Tuesday 5 November 2019).

The woman was granted conditional bail to appear at Tweed Heads Local Court on Monday 2 December 2019.

Meanwhile, Tweed/Byron police, with assistance from detectives attached to the State Crime Command's Homicide Squad and Richmond Police District, are continuing to investigate the circumstances surrounding the death of a man at the Tweed Heads South property last week under Strike Force Nambruk.

Officers were called to the same unit following reports of a concern for welfare on Tuesday 29 October 2019, and located the body of a 44-year-old man.
