Police Charge Two With Assault Police Offences At Bega

A man and woman have been charged with assault police offences on the South Coast.

About 6.25pm on Friday 3 April 2026, police were called to Prospect Street, Bega following reports of an alleged domestic incident.

Police will allege they attempted to arrest a 25-year-old man who became aggressive and allegedly attempted to stop police entering the home.

Police will allege during the arrest of the man, a 26-year-old female, allegedly struck a male constable on the head three times with an object, causing a laceration to the back of his head.

The pair were both arrested and taken to Bega Police station.

The woman was charged with assault police officer in execution of duty cause actual bodily harm and incite to hinder/resist police officer in execution of duty.

The man was charged with assault police officer in execution of duty without actual bodily harm and two counts of incite to hinder/resist police officer in execution of duty.

They were granted conditional bail to appear in Bega Local Court on Tuesday 14 April 2026.

The male constable was taken to South East Regional Hospital where he was treated for a head laceration. He has since returned to duty.
