Police charge woman after historical sex assaults in Sale

Detectives from the Sexual Crimes Squad have charged a woman following an investigation into historical sex assaults.

It is alleged that a 12-year-old child was assaulted multiple times over a 12-month period at a school in Sale in 1999.

The matter was reported to police in 2021 and an investigation commenced.

A 51-year-old woman from Hoppers Crossing has been charged with 26 offences including indecent assault and sexual penetration of a child under 16.

The woman was charged on summons and is expected to appear at the Melbourne Magistrates' Court on 25 November.

Victoria Police encourages all victims of sexual assault and child abuse, and anyone who has knowledge of such a crime, to make a report.
