Police charge woman over Wynyard wounding incident

Police have charged a 41-year-old Wynyard woman with wounding in relation to an incident in Maple Crescent, Wynyard.

Approximately 12:10am on Sunday 31st July 2022, police and emergency services were called to Maple Crescent, Wynyard in response to a 43-year-old man, also from Wynyard, with head injuries.

The man was conveyed to the North West Regional Hospital, where he was treated for several lacerations to his head. It will be alleged the man was struck to the head with multiple bottles.

A 41-year-old woman from Wynyard was arrested at her home shortly after. She remained in police custody overnight and has since been charged with one count of wounding. The woman was granted conditional bail to appear in the Burnie Magistrates Court on 20th September 2022.

The man and woman are known to each other and there is no threat to the wider community.
