Police charge woman with animal cruelty

An investigation conducted by Armadale Detectives in conjunction with the RSPCA has resulted in the arrest of a woman relating to the death of two Belgian Malinois dogs.

It will be alleged about 4am on Wednesday 3 August 2022, the woman drove to a residence in Kenwick which was the home of two female pure bred Belgian Malinois dogs, Kaiser (4yrs) and Kyra (7yrs).

It will be alleged the woman threw a number of bones laces with the poison Strychnine over the fence. The dogs consumed the bones and became seriously ill and died about 30 minutes after consuming the poisoned bones.

A 78-year-old woman from Golden Bay has been charged with two counts of Cruelty to Animals and she is due to appear before the Perth Magistrates Court on 28 October 2022.

The maximum penalty for this offence is $50,000 fine and 5 years imprisonment.
