Police Charge Woman With Drug Offences At Wellington

Police have charged a woman over an alleged attempt to introduce prohibited drugs into a Wellington Correctional Centre in the state's central west.

About 10.30am yesterday (Sunday 11 May 2025), police were called to a correctional centre on Mudgee Road, Wellington, following reports of a woman attempting to bring prohibited drugs into the facility.

Officers attached to Orana Mid-Western Police District were told a 32-year-old woman allegedly attempted to bring in methylamphetamine and buprenorphine strips on her way into visit a person when a drug detection dog gave a positive indication.

The woman was arrested and taken to Wellington Police Station.

She was charged with two counts of possess prohibited drug, two counts of supply prohibited drug, and two counts of bring prohibited drug/plant into place of detention.

The woman was refused bail to appear at Dubbo Local Court today (Monday 12 May 2025).
