Police investigate armed robbery at Cannington - CHARGE

Regional Investigations Unit Detectives have charged a man as a result of their investigation into an armed robbery that occurred in Cannington yesterday, Wednesday 3 July 2019.

Around 3.35pm, a man entered a bank on Albany Highway, passed a note to a staff member and pointing to his waist intimating that he was armed. A staff member handed the man an amount of cash and he left the bank, getting into a green vehicle and driving away.

A short time later, the green vehicle was seen by police on Canning Highway Como. As the traffic was heavy, the driver surrendered to police and was arrested.

A 26-year-old man from Piara Waters has been charged with one count of Armed Robbery.

He is due to appear before the Perth Magistrates Court today, 4 July 2019.
