Police investigate armed robbery at Slade Point

Police have charged a 17-year-old boy following an alleged armed robbery in Mackay overnight.

Officers will allege that just before 7pm, a 56-year-old man was leaving a Finch Street, Slade Point business before the boy, armed with a large wooden object, approached him.

The boy then proceeded to strike the man in the face and back with the object before demanding personal items from the man.

The boy then entered the man's vehicle and proceeded to steal multiple items before fleeing the scene.

The man sustained bruising and cuts to his face.

Later that evening police charged a 17-year-old Slade Point boy with armed robbery.

He will appear in Mackay Childrens Court.

Police are appealing for anyone who may have witnessed the incident or may have Dashcam / CCTV footage of the area around that time to come forward.
