Tasmania Police is continuing to investigate the disappearance of Launceston man Bruce Fairfax.

The 66-year-old was reported missing from the Duckhole Lake Track area at Strathblane in Southern Tasmania on Saturday 14 October, 2017.

Despite extensive searches of the area at the time, he was never located.

His disappearance is now being investigated by Kingston CIB.

Detective Acting Inspector Michael Foster said as part of the ongoing investigation, police would be re-interviewing old witnesses and calling for any new information from the public.

"As with any missing persons investigation, the case remains open until we find answers," he said.

"While this is now a criminal investigation, our detectives have not ruled anything out, and will consider all possibilities relating to Bruce's disappearance.

"We urge anyone with new information to come forward and provide it to police."
