Dartmoor Police are investigating a sexual exposure in a public place at Nelson on 2 November.
Investigators have been told a woman arrived at Nelson Beach just before 3pm and shortly later was approached by a man.
The man attempted to strike up a conversation with her before he commenced undressing and exposing himself to her while naked.
The 30-year-old woman immediately left the area and called police.
Detectives have released an image of a man they are hoping to identify as part of the investigation.
The man is described to be Caucasian in appearance, aged about 50-60-years-old, 180cm tall, slightly overweight with a large stomach, grey/blue eyes, grey hair with a fair complexion and scaly wrinkled skin.
