Police from Shepparton are appealing for assistance from the public as they investigate an alleged assault which occurred in Shepparton this morning.
Investigators have been told a 19-year-old Shepparton man was walking along Corio Street about 1.30am.
A silver Toyota Camry, which was travelling along Corio Street, stopped near Vaughn Street and the occupants of the car hurled abuse at the victim.
Four men then exited the vehicle and assaulted the victim before returning to the Camry and driving off.
The victim suffered a cut lip and chin as a result of the attack.
Police would like to speak to anyone who witnessed the assault or who may have dash cam footage or CCTV.
